Why I am Vegetarian?
Many times I have been asked that are you from India? Are you Hindu? So you must be vegetarian! Every time my answer is “Yes” to all these questions above. Now, very important question arise that “how do you survive, if you don’t eat MEAT?” These questions have been asked to me over million times when I was in the school or I was at workplace. It was very hard to explain them. There are also some people who say that vegetarian diet is very good food, but not sufficiently nourishing, which is due to lack of knowledge. I have told them that we have really delicious recipes in vegetarian diet as well as if you will have seasonal fruits & vegetables, its boon. Besides that over 80% population of India is vegetarian and it has very less numbers of patients with serious health problem like cancer. It has been researched that vegetarian person lives average 10 years longer & healthier than non-vegetarian diet. Even if I wont go through all these researched, my family criteria is that its start from your family background, I have never seen my parents having flesh, so automatically I would stay away from it. Religious believes of family ads in the decision to remain vegetarian like Ahimsa (not harming living things). I can bet with any flesh eater that if you will get chance to go to the slaughterhouse to see how brutally these animals are killed, definitely you will regret.
Now, scenario has been changed after me becoming Ayurvedic / Healthcare Practitioner, many people come to me for their various health problems. In our practice, strict diet control is must. Definitely above question arise here too but in profession manners. Where I have enough tools or information to answer them professionally. To become a doctor, you need to know anatomy. It is very clear scientifically that our body is not designed to digest meat. Let me explain. We know that tiger is carnivore, and tiger have a short small intestine, while their large intestine is very straight and smooth. But with
vegetarian animals have both intestines are long. The large intestine of human beings is about five meters long. Top of that it is folded back on itself many times, ant its wall is convoluted. As our intestines are longer, the meat we eat stays in our intestines for a very longest time, creating toxins which increase the burden on the liver, which has the function of getting rid of toxins. Even, meat carries urokinase protein and urea, which will add to the burdens on the kidneys. The burden on the kidney can destroy the kidney’s function and the burden on the liver can cause cirrhosis and even cancer of the liver. Besides that meat food lack of cellulose, it could be main reason to create constipation which is the root of all small or major health disorder. We know that constipation can cause rectum-cancer, piles, weight gain, etc. The cholesterol and saturated fat of flesh will create cardiovascular disorders, which has become leading cause of death many parts of the world now.
Even burning and roasting flesh will create a kind of chemical element, which is a powerful carcinogen, and this chemical may be a cause of cancer such as bone tumor, cancer of the blood, of the stomach, etc. Nowadays cancer is the second leading cause of death in many part of the world. Specially, North America has up to 50% more cancer patient than even Japan. Why? Because it’s very difficult to check whether any meat has cancer or not before it sold. Even advance countries like North America & Europe still cannot manage effectively. In slaughterhouse, people only removed bad parts and rest is sold. What if those germs have spread all over? When animals are killed, they are terrible stricken with agony, fear & resentment, which cause the production of toxins to stay in their meat to harm those who eat it. Top of that, to fulfill needs of flesh eater, food manufacturer companies are producing animals are injected with vaccines which may remain in their flesh. Naturally, cow will take 5-7 years to grow, but manufacturer will prepare cow in full size by maximum 18 months. Same with chicken, naturally full chicken will take 6-8 months, but manufacturer will prepare them in 7-10 days. That’s why most of the fast food chain restaurant sells their burgers under a dollar.
Sometimes, non-vegetarian person will give you an excuse that animals are born for people to eat and if we don’t eat them, they will either fill the world or eat humans. If this is the case than why don’t you cut a foot of your child and eat it. Next excuse, isn’t eating vegetables a kind of killing, too? Yes, eating plants is also killing living things but take a example here that when apple is ripen on the tree, it will be automatically disconnected from tree. So one nature is offering something to other nature. If we don’t pluck and eat them, fruit will be fall on the ground to rot, and then its seed will be killed by sunlight. Besides that if you will remove seeds of the apple and plant it, after some years your next generation will be able to eat more apples. Plants carries of 90% water, so its level of consciousness is so low that it hardly feels any suffering and when we eat vegetables we don’t cut their roots, its keep growing. Other way around, once you killed chicken, then its end of the story forever.
Next excuse of flesh lover is that if everyone eats plants, it will create a food shortage around the world. Let’s see simple calculation here. Using a given piece of land to grow crops will provides up to 15 times as much food as using the same land to grow fodder to feed animals for food. Besides that plants of each acre of land provide up to 800,000 calories of energy, but, if these plants are given to raise animals which are then eaten as food, these animal’s meat can only provides up to 200,000 calories of energy. It means we are easily losing up to 600,000 calories of energy in this process. Wow, it means vegetarian diet is eventually more economical and efficient than the meat diet.
In ancient time, meat is only provided to the warriors, because their job is to kill and kill. You can say that they practice of killing. Due to meat diet, it
makes soldier more brutal with hypertension and anxiety. Soldiers have been told that if you will eat meat you will be stronger and taller. As we can see that all big animals like elephants, giraffe, hippopotamuses, cattle, etc. eats only vegetables and fruits. They are much stronger than carnivores, even very gentle and useful to mankind. Today power of the car is measured with horsepower not with tiger power. But meat eating animals are both very violent and no use to mankind. So if we will animals, we will become animals too and yes we are animals these days, every region in the world is going through war like situation today.
In India, 3 scientists have found with their research that earthquake is due to over killing of animals. They have find out that slaughterhouses are main reason for these earthquakes. Time of killing these animals, they screams, they curse and curse. When you kill millions & millions of animals (creature), this curse multiply and create vibration and spread between land & space. This vibration creates huge & powerful magnetic waves then it creates cracks in the land.
We are humans and we do carry mind and heart both. It’s very clear that if we kill someone then someone will us. We need to stop this process. Everyone has right to live. It doesn’t mean that we are human so we have right to kill other creature.
If my life is precious, than definitely this animal’s life is precious too. Life is beautiful and we are human, so lets make our life beautiful and same time we can create beautiful environment for these animals.

Researchers have found that people who stuck to a vegetarian diet for at least one year lost more weight than those on a standard low-fat diet. And they shed considerably more excess flab than those who didn't stick with the meatless plan.
Additionally, levels of LDL "bad" cholesterol dropped after six months on the vegetarian diet, although they started to rebound when people went back to their normal eating habits a year later, says Lora A. Burke, PhD, professor of nursing and epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh.
